[rebel-builders] FWD: FYI: Stop LASP website - and more!

Post by Mike Betti » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:20 pm

I just heard about this the other day. According to a friend of mine at EAA
headquarters, he said their government man isn't having any luck fighting
this one. I haven't seen this website before and for some reason can't get
the page to come up, probably the government blocking it somehow.
Going to have to stay away from airports that have airline service!

Apropos the dismay recently expressed here about the security hysteria now
rampant in some quarters of the US, particularly as it is affecting GA, see
below issues and resources, forwarded from leaders of the Idaho Aviation
Assoc. (IAA) Some of you may already be aware of these proposed draconian
regulations. It's incredible stuff.

I don't think a long discussion of this is necessary on the builders' list,
perhaps not even appropriate. But I do think it's critical all US pilots are
aware of it, and DO SOMETHING. IMHO, we have to raise a ruckus. Surely this
is not a partisan issue for GA. Pick up the phone and call your reps, and
email them too.

My three cents.

Ron

The more recent additional TSA attack on GA freedom, *regardless of aircraft
size*, is noted at

If this situation as represented in several postings is true, (I first read
about it on Sunday night on rec.aviation.homebuilt) then everyone of us
needs to start writing letters to our elected representatives, the FAA, the
EAA, the AOPA, the TSA, and the President. (If you have not read the story,
follow Ron's link)
This is the most outrageous approach to a pilots freedom to conduct normal
activities that I have ever seen.
I am very serious about this. There needs to be a national outrage to this
situation.
I have copied and sent the posting on rec.aviation.homebuilt to the AOPA,
and have yet to have a response.
I hope that there is some misunderstanding about this, and that maybe the
original posting was a hoax, as some stuff on the internet often is.
But if it is not, and each one of you does not respond with appropriate
vigor, then the day will come when you will be allowed to fly only between
the hours of 10 and 2, after applying for a permit three days in advance.
This may seem to be off topic for this group, but when you look at how big a
problem this can become, I don't think so.
If you are like most people, and think that any letter you write on
government issues is just a waste of time, then now is the time for you to
rise to the occasion and get involved in this problem. Because if what I
read in the posting is true, then we are looking at the end of recreational
flying in this country.

Thanks, Ron for the TSA info. You are right in that their actions will
affect all pilots eventually. I will get right on this with my politicians.
The TSA was probably created for the right reason but they have mostly
turned into another bottomless bureaucratc hole of $$$ (ours) spending.

Let's write and call!
