Mandatory Mod for >ALL< Rebel kits... it's not written into any manuals that
I've seen.
I originated this SB yet I breezed over Craigs post "fin attachement" not
even clicking this old brain into gear as to what he was referring to.
On the top rear of the Fus-31 pie plate.. you need to make a .032 doubler.
Doesn't need to be big.. but I make it go to the tail spring bolt access
hole at minimum. The doubler needs to include a flange to double over the
existing flange on the Fus-31 and the three rivets into the rear fin spar
get upsized to RV1613's from RV1410's. On the front end of this doubler I
like to put a few brakes in it so it kinda looks like the wing stringer
material to stiffen it up a bit.
If you do find the MAM SB... DO NOT drill the relief holes that they show to
make the rear flange. These just give a place for the doubler to crack like
the original Fus-31 does if not reinforced.
