[rebel-builders] Changes coming ....

Post by Walter Klatt » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:55 pm

Congrats, Bob. The various Murphy planes still have no equal in the market,
if built right and fitted with the right engines.

Talked to a guy at Fort Langley last weekend about his Found floatplane. It
is a huge beast with a 290 hp Lyc, but he can only go solo into a lake above
3000 feet. And now that I have my 360 in my Rebel, don't think that I will
ever find a Supercub that can beat me on take-off and climb.

Good luck and hope you sell a ton.

Walter

Hi All !

We're working on changing the Murphy web site
(and sales organization) over to a new model.....
as discussed here a while ago.

If you haven't yet read the confirming letter yet,
it's up at: http://www.murphyair.com

Sometime in the next few days, the site will be
changing in a few big ways. Watch for it ! :-)
I'm looking for suggestions on ways to make the
BUYING experience better .... (please, NOT beefs about
past ills - we know about those !) I'll be doing my best
to improve things all around - - and I have to
generate some sales to do that. We'll appreciate any
and all the help we can get !!

Suggestions welcome - on or off-line ....

How can we get some NEW people building &
flying the great Murphy designs ?? Tell your
friends, of course .... and..... ???

The adventure is about to begin ! :-)

Thanks !

A cheap engine option.
No really ;)
$20+k for an engine is scary.
I'm sure a $6500. AeroV or Great Planes would make a decent starter
engine for a light Rebel and it would indeed be a light Rebel with one
of those 80 hp engines.

Thanks Walter !

You sure have a Hot Rod Rebel there !!! I remember seeing
2,300 fpm climb in Pierre's O-360 Rebel on wheels !!!!!!! Of course,
the prop was a little tooooo fine for normal use, but it sure was
impressive ! :-)

We just need to get some more out there flying, and let
the world SEE how great they really are !! Go beat those
Cubs ! ;-) :-) (and send them in to buy Rebels ! ;-) )

Thanks Ken !

Your right ! A light Rebel can be a great performer
with only 80 hp. I heard of ONE Rebel overseas that
flew with a 64 hp Rotax 532 2-stroke - and even carried
3 people, so I'm told !! :-) Somewhere, I've got video
of our old Rebel with the 80 hp. Rotax taking off in under
135 feet, and landing in the same distance !

I think one of those outfits (GP ?) makes a re-drive version -
THAT should be good, so you could use a longer prop.
Short props at 3,300 rpm don't work too well on
a wide Rebel ! ;-)

The prices are sure right ! We need some brave soul
to give it a shot ..... I have kits for sale ! :-)

Well, if I can do 1800 fpm with the amphibs, I can see 2300 wouldn't be a
stretch on wheels. My concern might be fuel flow with my gravity feed at
that angle. When I take off at half fuel or less I keep an eye on my fuel
flow monitor to see if it falls off at all. It consumes 18.5 gph hour at
full power, so not sure if I would have enough head pressure on wheels
during a low fuel steep climb.

[rebel-builders] Changes coming ....

Post by Dave Ricker » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:55 pm

Bob

Two questions come to mind reading Murphy's letter. First, I don't see
anywhere anything about continuing to develop the product line, will
anything else be coming down the line or is that it and Murphy just
continues to build kits until interest falls off?

Second, back when the story broke a couple of months or so ago I
inquired about getting a parts list to select components for firewall
forward and get a quote on needed parts, you said the factory would
contact me, so far only silence. Can you provide the firewall forward
parts list for the Elite and provide parts pricing for what we select?
When can I expect a reply?

Tks

Dave
