I have purchased a Grand Rapids EFIS Sport for my Rebel and in
reading the instructions it says to mount the magnetometer 1)
keep the magnetometer "at least 12 inches away from any current
from any current carrying wires (such as navigation and landing
light wires) and 2) keep the magnetometer "more than 18 inches
away from ferrous metal". I was going to put the magnetometer
behind the dash but that is less than 18" from the engine mount
and less than 12 inches from current (I suspect larger loads) from
large current carrying wires.
So if anyone has a GRT Sport in their Rebel, I would like to know
where they mounted the magnetometer.
Again thanking you in advance for your reply.

Grand Rapids EFIS
Grand Rapids EFIS
Hi Gary
I have installed two GRT EFIS units . On one we put the magnetometer in
the wing the other was in the fuselage just behind the bagage area in the
top left corner. Both locations worked very well. I would not mount it behind
the panel as it is to close to the engine and main electrical system. you do
not need to run shielded wire as the signal is digital. I ran the wiring below
the left door sill bhind the push pull tube.
