Have an 1800 straight float kit (untouched) and wondered if anyone has ever considered converting them to amphibs? Wayne, or anyone that has been thru the assembly of both kits; would it be too much trouble? Is there too many differences in the applicable bulkheads etc?

I'm in the same situation, I have the 1800 straight floats kit and intend to build them as amphibs. I was told, I think by Julius Szalonta, that the amphibs are based on the straight floats and that you can just buy the additional items from MAM to build them as amphibs. You don't want to try and convert a set that is already built though. Julius built an award winning rebel so I assume he knows what he is talking about.
You will need to talk to MAM and find out what else is required (and the cost). I'd be interested in hearing what you find out.

[rebel-builders] 1800 Straight Floats to Amphibs.
You could get the extra parts from MAM to change them into Amphibs Steve...
but it may just be cheaper to buy a complete amphib kit and sell your
straight kit.
