Epoxy Primer

Post by snowyrvr@mtaonline.net » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:20 pm

Hi Gang,

Apparently epoxy chromate is no longer available. The aircraft stores up
here say it was deemed too dangerous and are carrying epoxy primer instead.
Anyone used this? Probably the same thing as E.C. Also, anyone know of or
seen a good guide or instructions to using a rivet gun? I have two now
but have never used one. Thanks in advance. Craig

Epoxy Primer

Craig,

I'm a digest subscriber and first time poster, so you may have already
received your answer by now. I originally had difficulty finding the primer
when I started in mid 2006, but eventually found a source in Southern
California that could ship via UPS ground to my home in Northern California.
You may have to check with them regarding shipping to Alaska. I was able
to order 1 quart ea of the Endura EP-2C 2 part Epoxy Zinc Chromate Primer /
Sealer which was plenty to get me started. These folks are the US
distributor for this product made in Edmonton, AB, Canada:

epoxy primer

Best container I've found for dipping is a shot glass. Small amounts of primer are best mixed and freezer stored in a 35mm plastic film container.
