[rebel-builders] EliteProp&airfilter - Vans Spinner

Post by Walter Klatt » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:01 pm

Does the Vans spinner have a front bulkhead as well? And does it require a
crush plate for the front bulkhead?

Will the standard propeller bolt kit for the Sensenich prop and spacer fit
with this spinner?

Walter

Easier to drill holes with Van's spinner as you can see through
the fiberglass and it is trued concentric if back bulkhead is
installed even with the back edge of the spinner.

[rebel-builders] EliteProp&airfilter - Vans Spinner

Post by Walter Klatt » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:01 pm

Just another question on the spinner. I notice the standard Sensenich prop
for the Van's 360 engine is the 72FM series. This one has a prop thickness
of 3.437 inches while the 76EM series which is what is needed for my plane
has a thickness of 3.56. Since the spinner has a front bulkhead, how do you
adjust for the extra size of the 76EM prop?

[rebel-builders] EliteProp&airfilter - Vans Spinner

Post by rebflyer » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:01 pm

Hi Walter,
? I was talking to Seth last night (feel free to chime in Seth)
and he has ordered a Catto 2 blade. Much shorter delivery time than the 3 blade and still the same great light prop.
? Just another choice <grin>

The Van's spinner has a front bulkhead and does not require a
crush plate for the front bulkhead. Yes the standard bolt kit
for the Sensenich prop and spacer will fit with this spinner.

Hi, Curt, yes, I checked them out on the website, and looked through some of
the Vans forums. Seems they are quite popular on RVs. I also heard about the
long order times. While it sounds like a good prop, I decided to stay with
what I know best now (Sensenich). I don't like the weight, but figure with
my new engine, my total net weight increase should not be more than about 10
pounds. I can handle that. Price is good, too, on the Sensenich.

Can't remember, Curt, if you had any side by side comparisons with any other
float Rebels (that use other props) with your Catto, and those numbers would
be interesting to hear.

[rebel-builders] EliteProp&airfilter - Vans Spinner

Post by rebflyer » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:01 pm

Hi Walter,

? Yes I've done a little side by side with another 150hp Rebel running a 2 blade Prince. He's heavier (and so is his airplane <grin>)?so we've never really done any true tests trying to get apples to apples.?Airplane is?100lbs heavier empty. big battery and other stuff, and he's about 260lbs.
? The little that we have done I'm quicker off the water for sure, but there is that weight thing. We seem to run very close at cruise, both around 105mph @ 2500 rpm and 2500msl, and 65deg.?I haven't done a WOT with him though. At the same altitudes and temps I indicate 118mph @ 2750 wot.
?If I can before it gets to cold I'll try and do a time to 9500 for you.?
???Curt N97MR?

Hi Walter,
? I was talking to Seth last night (feel free to chime in Seth)
and he has ordered a Catto 2 blade. Much shorter delivery time than the 3
blade and still the same great light prop.
? Just another choice <grin>

Thanks, and sounds very good. They are not bad priced either, and same with
the airbox. Baffles are a little more, but still worth the effort instead of
making my own like I did last time.

The Van's spinner has a front bulkhead and does not require a
crush plate for the front bulkhead. Yes the standard bolt kit
for the Sensenich prop and spacer will fit with this spinner.
Easier to drill holes with Van's spinner as you can see through
the fiberglass and it is trued concentric if back bulkhead is
installed even with the back edge of the spinner.

Does the Vans spinner have a front bulkhead as well? And does it
require a
crush plate for the front bulkhead?

Will the standard propeller bolt kit for the Sensenich prop and
spacer fit
with this spinner?
