I am curious about actual engine weights for 320 lycos. If i get rid of my
rotax which actually weighs 167lbs (all accessories included) by the
shipping label, how much really does a 320 weigh , leavens has a 320 with
all accessories and claim it weighs 244 lbs. Can any on supply numbers??

I believe O-320's run from about 295 to 320 lb, depending on model
and accessories.... You must add the mount and exhaust system, baffles,
heat muffs, hoses, etc. (and <sometimes> the carb, alternator, and
magnetos !!! :-) )
The 912 weight likely includes the Rotax engine mount - which
you don't need ....?? Or else the exhaust system is quite heavy !!

ENGINE WEIGHTS
Bob,
I believe the 912S weighs about 168-172 lb. with radiator, hoses, fluids,
exhaust and does not include the engine mount. It has one of the best weight
to HP ratios of any engine.

engine weights
Mike,
The engine weight's for the 0320 can be found on Lycoming web sight.
Depending on the model 0320 you have, they weigh somewhere between 240 and 260 lb.
with alternator, starter and mags. Exhaust, engine mount and all other
accessories are extra lb. Hope that helps somewhat.
The 0320 E2D is one of the lighter engines. The 160 HP versions seem to start
gaining weight.

engine weights
Mike:
I took my plane to the airport last Sunday, picked up the scales today, will
be doing a weight and balance this weekend. Will let the list know when I'm
done.this will include 8qts. oil,0-320 lycosaurus 160 hp. painted inside and
out, basic instruments.
Happy Camper
Murray
Started my newly rebuilt engine for the first time yesterday. Spine and a
half of prop and she started to purr, what a beautiful sound when it's your
own. The mechanic that did the rebuild came to the airport and looked over
my install before we started it.
