[rebel-builders] Rebel - Vertical Fin Fairing

Post by Drew Dalgleish » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:15 pm

Hi Rich I don't have the fairing cuz I let Daryl talk me out of it. The
vert stab is way big enough all by itself and adding more just makes
crosswind landings more interesting IMO. If it's what you want though you
may as well rivet it on since there'd be no reason to ever check underneath
it.

Good Morning Gents!

After only one full year of building, I have five tail feathers built and
I am working on the sixth (the vertical fin/stabilizer). Ha! "Slow build"
given a new definition here.
From the many photos of other Rebels that I have looked at, folks put a
nice fairing running from this fin's leading edge down to the empennage. I
would, eventually, like to do that too.
How would this fairing be attached to the fin? Should I put some
nutplates in the leading edge and skins pre-emptively before I rivet the
structure closed? Or do I just drill and rivet it on later?
Thanks as always!
Rich
