Took 15 minutes to load the first page after clicking enter site. First
page
after that.....First two pics load...3/4/5 I get maybe 1/2 an inch of each
picture when it's there turn and no more.

Honest input...can't put my finger on an exact reason..but I don't like
it.....but it's not my business and I'm not paying for the site design....

Hi Wayne !

You're on a pretty slow dial up line - but I thought the
new site was going to be much better than the old one
for dial-up ..... Does it take a long time to load the
first page, or is it slow between pages ???

Guess you could just pick the airplane you're
after right away, without waiting for all the pictures
to load .... does it work that way for you ??

At least all the tech support article links now
work !

What do you think of the look & feel of the
new layout ?? Any comments from others ????

Hi Angus !

I think the pic WITH Jennifer would look better !
Don't think this was 'photo-shopped' - looks like
a slightly different angle -- maybe you sent in one
without her ?? Looks like a black blob under the
left wing - a bathing suit ???

[rebel-builders] MAM website

Post by Angus McKenzie » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:00 pm

Hi Bob
"The Girl" was in each of the three or four pics that day (Rebel tied to the
"No Tresspassing Beyond This Point" sign) just off-shore at Long Point in
Lake Erie.
And yes, my shorts were hanging on the pitot tube drying.
The water didn't look that deep when I stepped off the floats....Angus

[rebel-builders] MAM website

Post by N.Smith » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:00 pm

Hi All

I agree with the comments Norm made...it needs more content and quicker load
times for slower connections. I don't see the point of a title page you have
to click to "ENTER" - like, what else you going to do ?

It would be most useful if the builders info was published in a regional
manner, so you can find builders near where you live rather than
alphabetical by surname as was. (anyone willing to be contacted could
include their tel number - email addresses might generate spam so best left
off?) A link to the frappr site and also this list would be great as well.

The tech updates - could these be allocated a number as well as a date -
then you'll know you've got them all that are issued...... also can the ones
that affect more than one type be issued to all types rather than just the
initial type (there are a few Elite relevant ones that only appear under
Rebel). And finally - if the whole chapter is updated, can the changes be
marked in some way, such as a vertical line in the margin so you can see
easily where the changes actually are ?

Just my 2c worth (about 1p at current exchange rate :-)

Gary Gustafson

[rebel-builders] MAM website

Post by Gary Gustafson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:00 pm

I too would like to put in my $0.02 worth. I like the suggestion
of grouping builders but not by region. I would like to see one or two
sort keys (like available on the Rebel Builders site to select pictures
during the last x days), but have one sort key on state/province, and
possibly a second sort key on plane model (Rebel, Maverick, Moose, etc.)
That way one could isolate those near you that have the same plane.

A second item regarding the builders directory was the currency of the
data. Several builders that I called had sold their planes years ago.
So I suggest that the builders data contained a field called "Last
updated Date" and encourage those owners/builders to frequently update
their information (should have a current email address to contact them).
I know that some builders do not even register and that is their right
But those that do usually are agreeable for visits and share information.

I also sadly miss the videos, especially those of O'Shea's plane to
help keep the dream alive when not in the hanger/garage.

first page, or is it slow between pages ???

Guess you could just pick the airplane you're
after right away, without waiting for all the pictures
to load .... does it work that way for you ??

At least all the tech support article links now
work !

What do you think of the look & feel of the
new layout ?? Any comments from others ????

The landing link is the take-off played backwards, I hope. Neat!
That would be some trick if it is not.

Hi All

I agree with the comments Norm made...it needs more content and quicker
load
times for slower connections. I don't see the point of a title page you
have
to click to "ENTER" - like, what else you going to do ?

It would be most useful if the builders info was published in a regional
manner, so you can find builders near where you live rather than
alphabetical by surname as was. (anyone willing to be contacted could
include their tel number - email addresses might generate spam so best
left
off?) A link to the frappr site and also this list would be great as
well.

The tech updates - could these be allocated a number as well as a date -
then you'll know you've got them all that are issued...... also can the
ones
that affect more than one type be issued to all types rather than just
the
initial type (there are a few Elite relevant ones that only appear under
Rebel). And finally - if the whole chapter is updated, can the changes be
marked in some way, such as a vertical line in the margin so you can see
easily where the changes actually are ?

Just my 2c worth (about 1p at current exchange rate :-)

[rebel-builders] MAM website

Post by Jim Cole » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:00 pm

Hi Gary, I also have a few video clips on my web site which might get you
out to the hangar.
One has an impressive take off by Wayne - the tail is up almost immediately
and my strip is 2000 feet with he camera at about the 1200 mark. Quite the
rate of climb!
Another couple are a landing by Bob Johnson and his wife Olga in Bob's first
Rebel (the landing wasn't too bad either Bob.) and a low and over after Bob
& Olga left or should I say a "go around". Either way it gets a rise out of
most people.

Thanks Mike,
The clips were taken with a Sony PDF 150 digital video camera. I have a
professional editing system so I then made WMV files so they wouldn't take
up too much space on my web site.
