Rudder Trim - non Murphy

I have been reading this forum for awhile now and am planning on building a
Murphy when I finish my current experimental (fabric, 100mph) I realize this is
a Murphy site however with all the expertise here I was hoping someone can
provide some advice. What aluminum alloy is recommended for a fixed rudder
trim tab? I have been told a soft alloy to withstand adjusting without
cracking, and also told to use a tempered alloy to provide resistance to
deflection during flight. My wife and I plan on tagging along with the
Ramblers this Summer and hope to meet some of you.
