Post by Robert Johnson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:31 am

Hi Tim: I bought the basic tool kit from Murphy back in 1999 which included
250 pcs. each of 3/32 and 1/8 and 50 pcs. of 3/16. That was sufficient,
although planning is required when doing a wing. Hope this helps. - Bob J

Hello, everyone. I hope you all had a good Christmas, and I wish you all a
happy New Year.
My question:
Can someone who has been through the building process tell me how many
3/32" and 1/8" Clecos I will need to build the Murphy Rebel?

I have a coffee can full of 1/8 and a little less of 3/32. (I counted them
last
week, and I have already forgotton how many I have. But I did write it on
the
side of the coffee can!)
So, How many should I have???

Lots ;)
I think I started with 200ea of 3/32 and 1/8 which didn't get me very far.
Think I ordered another 200 of each when I got going on the wing.
Don't forget a dozen or so 3/16 and I used a dozen 5/32 as well when
correcting minor issues...
No doubt some folks have got by with a lot less.

What Ken said plus I don't have any but sometimes wished for a dozen 1/8"
long reach ones with the wing nut on top and some side grip clamps if
you're placing an order wnyways.

Tim,

It's also handy to have a dozen or so of the long reach (3/32 ,1/8 and 3/16) wing nut or hex nut draw clecos when you really need a lot of clamping force. The long reach type are versatile since you can thread a nylon spacer on the stem for shorter reach applications.

Hello, Rich:
To answer your question, no, we did not receive our kit yet. Actually, that
question could almost be funny, considering that the only thing we have
received from Murphy Aircraft is a letter acknowledging our order. In the
letter there is no mention of any proposed shipping date, or any reference
to when we might expect to be told when the shipping date might be
determined.
With kit number 806 you are only two serial numbers ahead of us. We are 808R
When did you order, and when did you receive your kit?
And, if I may, where are you located?
Thanks for the info on the Clecos.
By my count we now have 282 of the 1/8", and 228 of the 3/32". Plus I
discovered in a conversation with a friend of mine that he has maybe 40 of
my 1/8" clecos that I loaned him 3+ years ago. I got to start writing down
when I loan stuff out.

Tim,

Took me two months and a half months from order to delivery to Virginia Beach, VA. But that was only a control surfaces sub-kit. I just ordered the wings sub-kit last week so the "count is started" again.

I think you are good to go on Clecos!

Bob P,

Are you still in touch with the factory? Can you send some help over to Tim? At least to get an update on what is going on over there? Thanks!
