[rebel-builders]total tail height?

Post by british thunder » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:30 am

does any one know the height to the tip of the rudder when the plan is on
amphibs?
or how high the door has to be to get in the garage?
I just bought a new place with a 30 x 40 shop but the ceiling is only 10'.
thanks.

Don't have a good figure for a Rebel tail height on floats, but bet there's
lots out there that can give you a pretty good idea. I had a 180 on
"anphibs" next door to me in NJ and he had to have a special rig built to go
under the front wheels when pushing in hanger with a 14 foot bi-fold door,
to lower the tail height - may not have opened to the full 14', however.

[rebel-builders]total tail height?

I can't measure as everything in the hangar is either on blocks or off
floats...but if memory serves me correctly 9' 8" rings a bell...but be
forwarned...if you have antennas on the top of your cabin they are higher
than the fin ! They should still come thru a 10' door.

WALTER KLATT

[rebel-builders]total tail height?

Post by WALTER KLATT » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:30 am

Is the whole ceiling 10' or just the door? My Rebel on amphibs is just under 10' at the top of the tail. That is with a 2.5" float angle. Someday I want to change mine to 3.0" which should lower my tail even further. Then there are some that have shortened the main float struts to get even lower.

Cec,

I believe it you search the archives you should find
your answer as I asked the same thing many moons ago.
I have 14' walls but my bi-fold door opens to 11'6"
and I remember that was plenty.

Hanger, of course - you can always eat in the hanger, but it's hard to build
in the kitchen.

ALREADY MEASURED FOR CABINETS.
BUT CHECKING ON BEAM FOR ABOVE THE DOOR, WOULD LIKE TO SPAN 35 FEET?
NOT SURE WHAT SIZE BEAM I NEED? THAT WILL DETERMINE HOW HIGH I NEED TO RAISE
THE ROOF OR COME IN THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE.
BETS ARE BEING TAKEN.
TRYING TO TRADE STRAIGHT FLOATS FOR SKIES AND CASH FOR HANGER DOOR SO I CAN
GET BACK IN THE AIR THIS WINTER.
MAY HAVE TO PUT THE STORAGE OIL IN IT SOON.
MY BET IS ON THE DOOR BEING COMPLETED BEFORE THE KITCHEN IS DONE.
THE GARAGE/HANGER HAS A FULL BATHROOM AND FURNACES IN IT ALREADY, NO WORRIES
ABOUT LIVING THERE FOR A WHOLE.
GO FIGURE I GOT THIS PLACE BECAUSE OF A DIVORCE?????
4 WEEKS TO GO.
