Hey jim

I got all my clear heat shrink from b&c speciality in states, they have
assoeted pack you can get that has 3 or 4 sizes, I have run out so I would
suggest getting 2 packs, it takes little time to label this way but it rally
looks good and makes trouble shooting dead easy

labels on the ends of the their wires??
I am at the same spot and would like to identify the wires this way.
Where do you get "clear" heat shrink?

Hi Jim: Clear heat shrink is available thru "Nutech Electronics" which is a
local St.Catharines shop although they have outlets all over Canada. I would

Any local electronics supplier should have it. Maybe even Radio Shack or
whatever they call themselves nowadays in Canada.

I picked up a labeller and the clear heat shrink but quickly gave it up.
Guess I was overwhelmed by the time it took with all my EFI wires and it
starts to bulk up things at connectors that have a lot of wires. When
you consider how little wire is actually in a Rebel it is not much more
money to pick up colored wire from steinair, b&c, spruce, wayteck etc.
22 awg (5 amp fuse) and 18 awg (10 amp fuse) will do the vast majority
of the wiring. Another help was to number or sketch the forest of tabs
grounding block and record which tab is connected to what. Same thing
with any connectors such as at the wing root. Make a sketch of which
wires are which at every connector that isn't labelled. Another
technique from Jim Weir is to insert intermediate molex connectors 6" or
so from your radio, intercom, transponder etc. Sometimes that lets you
yank the whole tray out easier and it makes it simple to swap to another
radio as you then just wire up a new intermediate connector to radio
extension at home instead of hanging upside down under the instrument
panel or paying an avionics guy to do that. I know I do better work
standing up than hanging upside down. He has suggested standard wiring
diagrams on his site and calls them Karmic Connectors.

Another great source is allied electronics or digi-key.
Allied was the cheapest source for switches and I get connectors etc
from digi-key periodically. I order on the web and always receive the
order next day and the combined shipping and brokerage is US$6.50 from
allied or cdn$8. from digi-key as long as the order totals at least
about cdn$32. Neither stocks airplane wire though.

There is a company in Minnesote called "Waytek" that supplies any and all kinds of shrink tube plus wiring supplies of all kinds. I have been using a triple wall shrink tube for years that actually seals the connection against moisture and corrosion. hope this helps.
