[rebel-builders] Teleflex Cable length ?

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:13 am

Can't help you with the Elite Nig but the mounting on the Rebel changed
so that the new manual shows the teleflex attached forward of the mixer
now instead of aft. That gives a slightly better mechanical advantage
but it also gets the vertical push pull tubes behind the door frame
instead of partially blocking the door opening. I think the holes in the
mixer are unchanged and they just swapped the mixer and the cable.
119R shipped with a -072B teleflex which is 72" end to end without the
clevis which sounds like what you have.
Some rebels (later ?) shipped with -074 cables which fit my machine a
bit better without rubbing on the overhead torque tube.

Hi All

Just starting to do the teleflex cable routing and forward support
plate/clip in 745E, and it seems the cable length is about 6 inches too long
for a nice direct route.

Clevis pin to clevis pin, with the fork ends both screwed on as far as they
will go is about 74 inches.

The ideal length for a smooth run from the front and gentle curve down to
the mixer arm would be about 68 inches.

I don't fancy the excess doing a curve in free air across the side window
aft of the door and then back down to the support at the top of the mixer
arm support plate, but not sure how else to do it ?

(The Rebel may be different to the Elite in this area !)

Wonder if the Elite should have a shorter cable, and I've been sent one from
the Super Rebel or something else ? (the part number on the label is correct
!)

Also the archives photo's show the teleflex attaching to the mixer arm just
AFT of the bellcrank, but the Elite manual shows it attaching just forward
of the bellcrank - is this another Rebel difference ?

Anyway, really appreciate a quick check from another Elite builder on the
routing and length of his teleflex cable/clevis fork assembly. (going
electric is NOT an option for me :-)

Thanks
Nig

[rebel-builders] Teleflex Cable length ?

Post by Mike Betti » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:13 am

Nigel,
I measured my cable from end to end with out the fork ends as best as I
could in place and I get about 65". Take a look at my website
www.mikeselite.com and there is one picture under assembly that shows the
cable routing above the door. If you need another picture let me know and an
email address.
