[rebel-builders] Elite on CLAMAR 2200's flies !

Wayne:

I'd be interested to know what mods, if any, you have done to the
elevator spades, and what elevator position it adopts at cruise. I'd
say the 0.060" shim under the rear attach points has done away with 50%
of my up deflection at cruise. Your second pic. Seems to show some up
elevator, but of course that could be temporary, or due to lower speed.

Up... up... and away yesterday at 16:15 Eastern. Climbed like a homesick
angel with 35 gallons of fuel on board and Bob solo. No lack of elevator
authority...as evident in the lift off picture! Appears we got things in the
right places after a few runway shoots and washing the float bottoms on Lake
St.John before Bob tucked it way in Orillia 'till his next AirCan hops are
over.

[rebel-builders] Elite on CLAMAR 2200's flies !

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:47 am

Bob's heading to the lake (driving) just like me in the morning.....but he
is coming back the next day (I'm stayin a week!). He'll be doing some more
flying next week and I've asked him to make note of elevator trim in all
flight aspects so we can tweak both his airplane and future CLAMAR
installations to Elite's.

I advised him last fall that he needed the spades cut in half as well as the
cable horn SB performed. He wanted to fly it for the summer to decide if the
spades really needed to be downsized so I would only have to remove his
elevator/stab assembly once to do both or just the SB....hopefully his horns
hang in there while he finds out!

As for the up elevator in the flyby pic...he had just dropped over 100 foot
trees and was rounding out just prior to climb...so not an indication of
level flight.
