Just a thought, I probably won't do it either. How was it spraying in the
corrosion-X? Do you use a long piece of tube, or what? I will probably use
soem kind of spray in protection in the wings as well, because I plan to be
in salt water. I am being pretty thorough about priming the belly and aft
fuselage/tail feathers, but in the wings I just did the standard priming of
the joints and rivets.

Nope - it never occurred to me that water could sit in the wing trapped
by the stringers...
Haven't heard that one come up here before even though drain holes in
the stringers for letting fuel through has been mentioned a few times.
Too late as it is painted (unless the inspector balks). Oh well - I
think the top is well sealed and I did spray corrosion-X into the wings
last week.

Did you put drains in the wings too, or just the belly? I was thinking
water
could get trapped against the outboard side of the tank rib, between the
stringers. In the leading edge and at the rear spar it should be able to
run
down to the root and out.

Hi Alvin
I put a 1/8" hole ahead of every bulkhead to drain condensation and any
rain accumulation. Cesna's collect water so I suspect these will too.
I've also heard that there are a few inspectors around these parts that
insist on them. Never seen it done but one could always glue plastic
seaplane vents (as used on fabric flaperons) on the exterior if you were
worried about extensive operation in saltwater. Or maybe stick a drill
bit in the hole and bend the skin rearward a bit to make a mini scoop...

I used the basic one quart sprayer from corrosion-X but I also had the 6
foot wand which is a 3/16" dia. steel tube. So the outboard 6 ft is easy
with the wingtip off. The wings were not installed so I drilled a #11
hole through the leading edge root rib for the inboard half of the
leading edge. Slid the wand in at the rear corner of the wing root rib
and rear spar for behind the tank. Got outboard of the tank through the
inspection hole at the strut attachment point. I'll have to get more
creative next time with the wings installed. I had a #11 hole in every
section of the floor with a little plastic plug so it was easy to get
under the floor with the little 1/8" diameter L shaped wand. Tail
feathers mostly had locating holes in places that worked fine or the gap
between the spar and the ribs. The stuff fogs in pretty good so just
getting it in the general area seems to coat everything lightly.
