[rebel-builders] Heater box

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:39 am

Right below the right plate is a good spot. In the center is not as that
area is congested enough with mags, oil screen (or adapter) etc.

So the heat doesn't blow straight back on your passengers legs a diffuser
plate bolted out on spacers to direct the air down and to the sides is
desirable and if you want to have defrost pick up a one inch tube off the
face of the plate directly in front of the outlet to hose up to the glare
shield. I made a defroster box with a sliding door similar to what you would
find in a C182 out of scrap pieces of alum.

Hi all,
Is there a preferred location to mount the heat box on the firewall? I
have Wayne's firewall plates so I am thinking it will have to go just above
them at center? I don't have any cables through the firewall yet so I hope I
don't interfere with their final location.
Also, is there some sort of fitting attached to the inside for air flow
direction or maybe splitting?
Thanks,
Mike Betti

Ok thanks Wayne,
That was kind of the area where my battery was going to be mounted but maybe there is still room for it on that side, I need to check closer when I get home. With this recomendation, where do you put the battery?

[rebel-builders] Heater box

Mine was a Gill 25 on the firewall right below the cabin heat box. I have
since moved it to the back of the tailcone since going to amphibs.

If need be you could put the heat box on the firewall plate. Shouldn't be an
issue..Howard has both a fresh air and a heat control and his fresh air is
on/thru the plate and it has survived a lot of "grief"!
