Yes Mike...lower fitting is the pressure line that goes to the caliper and
upper is the feed from the reservoir.
That is the correct 1/4" tube...nothing wrong with it (although 3/16 would
be better pressure capacity wise) and have yet to see it blow unless someone
rode their brakes for too long and overheated the line right at the caliper.
Generally only a problem on high landing speed aircraft (which the Elite is
not)....but Angus did cook one off his amphibs...probably from brake drag to
taxi the length of the grass strip. I've never had a problem in the 11+
years my rebel has been flying.
Just make sure your line is cut square and fully seated into the fitting
before tightening the nut. Some of the fittings have a built in center
spiget...but many do not and have not seen it be an issue if assembly is
done correctly. Make sure the tube is warm before tightening the nut. If
it's really cold put the end in some hot water...if you have room
temperature just the heat of your hand should be more than sufficient. After
you have assembled the lines do not fill them for a couple days. Re-snug the
tube nuts after a couple days and then fill your lines.
Reservoir goes anywhere you can put it...where it's handy to fill it up when
necessary. Even that's not a big issue as I fill from the caliper up using a
12V electric windshield washer pump. Filling this way leaves the line
absolutely air free right from the start.

Subject: Re: [rebel-builders] Brake lines
Ok thanks all,
Couple more brake questions:
Are there any instructions in the manual on this subject, I haven't found
them?
Do the master lower fittings go to the brakes and uppers to the resevoir?
The only tubing I received was some Parker Parflex .035 wall, seems kind
of
light, is that the stuff to use?
The fittings are compression type, shouldn't there be an insert in the
hose
