Main Gear Clamp Bolts

Post by Mike Kimball » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:35 am

Darryl just wrote me back about my question on the 5/16 bolts that hold the
gear clamps in place where the main gear exits the fuselage. He says that
5/16 is fine for a Super Rebel but he states that there is some merit to
going larger for a Moose because the reserve factor is smaller. He stressed
the importance of proper torque on the bolts stating that over torquing is
the worst case. Although I didn't ask he did mention that changing the
Fus0309A landing gear attach brackets for the new Fus0309B brackets is a
waste of time and money. I'm not sure if he meant because I have a stock
Super Rebel, not a Moose, or if he meant that the old style is fine despite
a change to the part with more recent kits. I'm staying with what I have.
Anyone seeking further clarification should contact MAM, especially if you
have a Moose.
