Prop for Rebel/Exhaust
Just got off the phone with Warp Drive and have been advised that they only
recomend the four blade setup for a tune of $1380 plus spinner at $240 for
150 hp Lyc.. What are the majority swinging with metal props (pitch and
diameter) on wheels for cruise/climb? See the advantages of the Prince but
very pricey.

The Prince is only about $2,200, I believe, not much more than
the WD, and a lot less than a Sensenich. The Sensenich is the next
best prop - bites better than McCauley.... but they are about $2,600+ !
The recommended general purpose Sensenich is 74 x 54 .... 56 for cruise,
and 52 for climb. This was the most popular choice, until the Prince.

I use the 74X54 Sensenich on floats with the 150 hp 0320. That gives me 2720
rpm WOT straight and level. If on wheels, I would go 74X56 or 58. The 160 hp
moves all these pitches up by 2.

I used the 3 blade 72 WD on mine for a while both on wheels and floats. It
performed very well actually, and didn't have any collar cracking. For some
reason, some engines are fine, others are not.

..Heck... I didn't even think they'd sell a warp for a lycoming anymore.
Guess things have changed again. I don't like the 4 blade...but there are a
few in the field. I'm still flying successfully behind my 3 blade 70"
diameter. Most everyone I know had aluminum "overmoulding" problems at the
root of the blade where it clamps...and these are all 72" props. I seem to
be the oddball (as usual) with a shorter prop and 10 + years of flawless
performance from mine.

I understand that the cracking at the end of the collar is nothing as long
as the crack doesn't continue under the hub for a great distance. The only
other problem that did concern me was the collar moving inside the hub on
the older models. Some time ago I consulted a buddy that knew composites and
his opinion about was if the fiber ran continuous from the butt end out to
the blade end and back, there wasn't an engine u could mount in on that
would shed the blade from the hub. Think the higher compression engines are
the ones that had problems. IVO won't sell for any Lycs but get this, they
will sell a prop for a Franklyn engine with the high compresseion pistons-
somewheres around the 9.75 range. Go figure.

I started with a Sensenich 74x56 on wheels and worked great with 150 HP 0320. When I went to floats It was wanting, so I re-pitched it to 54 and found 100 more RPM on take off. I would investigate the Prince Prop for weight and performance if I was building today, but don't think you would be disapointed with the Sensenich.

I started with a Sensenich 74x56 on wheels and worked great with 150 HP 0320. When I went to floats It was wanting, so I re-pitched it to 54 and found 100 more RPM on take off. I would investigate the Prince Prop for weight and performance if I was building today, but don't think you would be disapointed with the Sensenich.

recomend the four blade setup for a tune of $1380 plus spinner at $240 for
150 hp Lyc.. What are the majority swinging with metal props (pitch and
diameter) on wheels for cruise/climb? See the advantages of the Prince but
very pricey.

Price from Murphy was around $1500 cdn. Shud have mine for $1400. cdn with
two mufflers
