Exhaust Systems for Rebel

Post by steve whitenect » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:45 pm

I'll try this again! Only got one or two responses before. What is the
majority using for exhaust systems for lyc 0-320s? Forsling hasn't got an
active email right now. Got a quote from Aircraft Technologies for $1149 us
with twin mufflers and heat muffs all stainless. Tried MAM but all Nancy
did was email me the list of junk in the firewall formard kit and no prices
for exhaust systems. What about the MAM systems? Pros Cons Cracks Noise???
Any idea who is making them now for MAM?

Thanks

Exhaust Systems for Rebel

Post by Robert and Olga Johnson » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:45 pm

Hi Steve: I see you got a good response this time but I will add to it
anyway. I purchased the firewall forward package from Murphy when I built my
Rebel and was real happy with the stainless steel exhaust system supplied.
Like Wayne said, cross over pipes and straight pipes with slip and ball
joints. I was concerned not having any mufflers, but to my surprise, it was
not what I would call noisy, just sounded throaty. That was from an 0-320
160HP. After the three years I flew it, it was still looking like new and
no cracks. Bob J

Exhaust Systems for Rebel

Post by carol and murray cherkas » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:45 pm

I have Forsling exhaust which I bought from MAM. Nice pipes, The only thing
is that two of the pipes touch each other. No pressure but touch. This is
not a good thing. My mech. suggested I flatten one pipe a little at this
point so they won't touch. I did this very carefully and 150 hrs. later. No
problem

Just a heads up.
