On floats I don't know whether there is any additional up elevator if
there is I don't notice it on ski's in the winter. Realize that 10
degrees on the elevator is not very much stick movement.

read you postings with great interest as i am about to install nico
press on my elevator cables.I assumed i would rig cables to have stick
in comfortable position with elevator level with stabilizer. This was the
case with my PA-11.Al says he flies level flight on floats with 10
degree up elevator. Why would a aircraft be designed like this.Hope mine
will not be like this.Seams sort of inefficient.Should i set up for
comfortable stick at o degrees or 10 degree up.

Rebel - Elevator rigging

Post by Bruce Georgen » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:37 pm

My wheeled Rebel flew with a straight elevator but with floats It flies with up elevator in cruise. The C&G did not change with the float installation so I'm guessing it must be the angle I mounted the floats that makes it fly nose heavy. I think it was 4 or 4-1/2 *, I can't remember, but I know it was 1 or 1-1/2 more than the Manual stated. Robin at MAM suggested increasing it.

Rebel - Elevator rigging

Post by Mike Betti » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:37 pm

With the recent talk of keeping the throws the same on the control column as
on the elevator, I measured the original from MAM on my Elite. Measuring the
radius of each, I got 2" throw at the column and 3" at the elevator horns.
So I'm thinking I will be ok modifying it. Still waiting for word from MAM
on their input.
