Hello all and Happy New Year.
Well here I'am at another stumbling block!
When assembling the vertical Stab at the point that I have to align the
front spar and adjust the fin 27 attach bracket it shows a measurement of
1/8 or less ?? is the attach fitting going to be completely parallel to the
line on the table? I have about 1/16 at the tip and 1/8 at the end towards
the spar. And to get these measurements do you slide the fin 27 bracket back
and forth to get this distance?
Sure seems like they could have been a little more detailed in there
instructions!

Hi David
You seem to have it pretty much nailed. I think the intent is indeed
that the bracket shud be approximately parallel to the line so that it
will fit against the bulkhead on the fuselage but I'm not sure how
important that is. Perhaps someone who has done this recently will
comment about whether it makes sense to adjust the bend now. Personally,
I'd rivet or cleco it on just like you describe and be prepared to flex
or bend it a bit after you make the fuselage and see exactly how it
fits. The stab brackets are similar and I do remember adjusting the bend
on the stab brackets a bit when mounting those. Just a small rounded
adjustment with no sharp edges to weaken it or cause later cracks.
Do you have the early bulletins? I don't remember any affecting the tail
surfaces but there were some issues that are not mentioned in later
manuals that might affect your kit. I recall one about a batch of wing
skins that didn't fit for example.
