Don't want to over generalize, but basically a very slightly shrunk SR2500!
2550 gross to run on an O-360 or other engines from 180Hp to 210 Hp. 4 true
seats.

Hi Mike

I checked out MAM site and it looks like a streamlind SR with trike gear.
There is also another company selling a kit called the yukon, wonder if
Murphy will have to change the name?

WALTER KLATT

I notice that it will have a 38 foot wing span, longer than the SR/Moose. Will this enhance floatplane performance? Of course, I would still want more than 210 hp. The 2550 gross weight is OK.

It will be availble in trike and tailwheel. As for Watson's Yukon...I doubt
they trademarked the name...since GMC has used it for years and it's a place
on the globe to start with.

When Robin first told me about it and asked for suggestions..I said why
bother with another model...guys will just put a bigger engine on it and ask
TC for a gross weight increase. You watch..give it 5 years and check the TC
registry for registered weights. I predict you'll see Yukons registered @
3000lbs.

Is 38 feet not the wing length now with the new tips MAM put on the Moose to
get the wing loading down?

If you take the SR2500 (non-Moose) and put a 180 HP engine on it arn't you about at the same place as this Yukon in performance? From a manufacturing perspective wouldn't it be easier to bring back the SR2500 as a product. With any new design there are issues.. i.e. elevator re-enforcement, tail wheel, main gear, (look at the list of service bulletins) etc. Why go thru the learning curve AGAIN. If they brought back the SR2500 they have the learning curve behind them, the cost associated with the learning curve, the customer acceptance, and the design is proven. If they want to fix some of the issues and give it a new name, fine, call it the SR2600!

Wayne G. O'Shea

Yukon

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:06 pm

I think you'll see that the wing is the basically the same as the SR2500,
stab is the same design as Elite/Moose as are the elevator, fin, rudder etc.
Nothing new here and I'm sure all the SB's will be incorporated (you can
even see the elevator horn SB in the drawing). I even noted the tabs have
been cut off the bottom fin doubler where the stinger comes out through. No
tabs..no cracks! The fuselage is obviously going to be somewhere between
the Elite and the SR in length. I'm pretty sure darn nearly every bulkhead,
wing spar, rib, extrusion will be duplications of existing models, with very
few new parts that if they are any different will be same tooling..thinner
gauge alum.

The other option is to pool all your money together, give Darryl a huge
relief and buy him out, and then you can make all the decisions yourself.
Everyone has a price...especially after 20 yrs ( at least I did!! :O)) )

With any new design there are issues.. i.e. elevator re-enforcement, tail

Didn't mean to get a collection plate going...was just making a statement
off the cuff, that if someone out there thinks they can do a better
job...ante up to the plate. Been some slanderous postings in the past little
while here on dcsol that had no business being laundered here and I didn't
want MAM's decission to add to their product line to start another one.

Cheers,

MAM has updated the site with more information on the Yukon. Could be
what I am looking for in an experimental. Might be interested in selling
my project to acquire one of these . If anyone might be interested please
e-mail me. Dale Fultz SR-033 dfultz17086@earthlink.net

Yukon

I was going to say the exploded drawings looked just like the drawings from
my Moose with a quick inspection. Doesn't look like they re-invented the
wheel here.

I think you'll see that the wing is the basically the same as the SR2500,
stab is the same design as Elite/Moose as are the elevator, fin, rudder
etc.
I'm pretty sure darn nearly every
bulkhead,
wing spar, rib, extrusion will be duplications of existing models, with
very
few new parts that if they are any different will be same tooling..thinner
gauge alum.

The other option is to pool all your money together, give Darryl a huge
relief and buy him out, and then you can make all the decisions yourself.
Everyone has a price...especially after 20 yrs ( at least I did!! :O)) )

If you take the SR2500 (non-Moose) and put a 180 HP engine on it arn't
you
about at the same place as this Yukon in performance? From a
manufacturing
perspective wouldn't it be easier to bring back the SR2500 as a product.
With any new design there are issues.. i.e. elevator re-enforcement, tail
wheel, main gear, (look at the list of service bulletins) etc. Why go
thru
the learning curve AGAIN. If they brought back the SR2500 they have the
learning curve behind them, the cost associated with the learning curve,
the
customer acceptance, and the design is proven. If they want to fix some
of
the issues and give it a new name, fine, call it the SR2600!

Hi Wayne

You're right, If I was building it I would put a 300HP prop turner on
front.
Was to early in the morning and I didn't scroll all the way down on the
PDF
to see the tail gear version.
