Moose tail upgrades from Murphy Aircraft

Post by Ted Waltman » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:01 pm

As I posted here previously, I experienced cracks in a number of tail
parts after about 250 hours total time in my Moose. Darryl Murphy and
the crew at Murphy Aircraft have been working to redesign a number of
the Moose tail components. Recently, they sent me prototypes of the new
parts to install and test. The below webpage documents my preliminary
impressions.

I tried to address as much detail as possible in the webpage. If you
have questions, please let me know and I will add the answers to the
list and to the webpage.

Hi Ted,
All I can say is WOW, it looks like a lot of work installing the kit. Thank
you for keeping us informed. I am back on wheels and need to do something to
beef up mine soon!

Moose tail upgrades from Murphy Aircraft

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:01 pm

Thanks Ted. I've had the PDF of the new parts for a little while now and it
didn't look like fun to retrofit a tail that was already closed up. Will be
a while before I ever get back on 017 anyhow...will see how things work out
on these new parts long before I get back at her.

Cheers,
Wayne

Just wanted to say thanks Ted for all the work you're putting into this, so
when I get my fuselage kit next year it will have this problem already
addressed!

Ted, thanks for posting all the information, wouldn't you know one of the
few things that is completed and even painted is my tailwheel assembly. I guess
if I get it flying in the next few months I will hammer it out before I tear
it down for the mods.
