Fabric on the flapperons?

I read that the Rebel uses fabric on the flapperons? Why all metal except
for the flapperons?

Has anyone skinned them with metal, or does this introduce too much weight?

How about the 2500 or Elite, fabric too?

The fabric flaperons do not require mass balancing, the metal ailerons on
the Elite and Moose are mass balanced, so you get a lot more weight than
just the metal skin itself.

The Super Rebel and Moose have all metal ailerons and flaps. No flapperons
on the bigger planes. I don't see why you couldn't skin the Rebel
flapperons with metal if you want. You'll want to balance them if you do.
Personally, I wouldn't have objections to using fabric. Modern fabric will
last for many years.

Even "real" airplanes like P-51s and DC-3s have some fabric covered controll
surfaces.

That makes good sense. I'm not opposed to the fabric at all, just was
