He gave me the email address for the guy who is producing a replacement
tailwheel for the 3200. Ironically, his first name is Scott. He sent me some
info and pictures. It is welded steel rather than cast aluminum. Looks
really tough. Here's a copy of the email.
Good evening Jesse!
I will see what I can tell you about the tail wheel, think I will go in
order of your question to me and fill in a bit more at the end.

Scott,
I heard you are producing a 3200 clone. You already have the right name!
Not really a clone, but a BETTER design, it was designed by Bob Barrows of
the Bearhawk fame.( he has one that has 1000 hours on it, and still has not
had it apart for any fixing) It weighs the same but comes with a 10 " tire
instead of an 8" A pretty big difference when it comes to unknown rocks,
sticks and potholes. My yoke tolerence is much tighter, so only small sticks
or stone could go up around, and the tire will deflect enough to let those
through. vs. the Scott 3200 having inside yoke openings big enough for a
golf ball size rock to get in there...
I took Bobs design, did CAD work on it all, and made all the weld up hard
to keep true pieces as one unit items done on CNC lathe, and 4 axis mills,
ONLY because of this, have I been able to keep the price down. He as the
designer has inspected everything and approved it.
Also I don't use the high maintance taperd bearings that need adjustment.
And the rudder steering ears, that bend on the Scott 3200 vs mine that are
.190 thick and are welded to the locking pin head peace, these will not
bend... if they do, something else major has happend to the plane, that had
nothing to do with the tail wheel
Broken down tail wheel weights!
The 10" tire, tube and wheel 04.50 pound
Bearings and bushings for above 00.56 pound
Complete assembly less above 03.34 pound
Total weight on plane 0 8.40 pound
Sprng weight as supplied by Avipro 05.27 pound
would like some more info on pricing etc.
Priced at $545.00 plus shipping----complete with AN hardware, ready to bolt
onto your 1-1/2" spring. This includes tire and wheel. I am thinking this
will be black oxide treated...(so will still need to be painted) but will
keep nicely if kept inside til painted.
I do believe it would look good on the REBELI'm building a Murphy Rebel,
Enclosed is a photo or two of the set up...
Feel free to ask any other questions.. I am building 21 tail wheels this
next two weeks with 15 of them sold.
