Bill,
I am using a strap around each or the front wing attach brackets. The straps
are attached to spreader bar and a hoist. With my engine the airplane is
tail heavy so I also use a tail stand.

Wayne G. O'Shea

Amphib Moose

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:51 am

Bill, as Al has mentioned this is also how I do it as well...but I use two
chain falls for the front and a walk behind pallet truck for the tail. I put
a AN6 Bolt under the fuselage forward wing attach "stubs" to attach a short
cable with thimble loops on each end. One thimble ahead and one thimble
behind the "stub" on the AN6 bolt and the wing attach bolt keeps things from
sliding anywhere.

Cheers,
Wayne

Amphib Moose

Post by robert@montanasky.us » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:51 am

Bill,

Install your forward wing attach bolts backwards (with the nut toward the
front). When you need to hang the plane, de-nut the bolt and slip on (a
nd
re-nut the bolt of course) a 4130 strap (1-1/2" x 5" x 3/16" thick) with
two holes - one for the wing attach bolt and one for a shackle pin. Mak
e a
cradle, spreader bar ... whatever you want to call it, such that on
the
bottom there are two shackles at the ends that mate and pick up the two
forward wing bold straps and at the top in the center is where the ceiling

hoist hooks up. The tail will be heavy as the pick-up points are way
forward of the CG ... but two men and a boy can lift it onto a tall
jack
stand. Make the tail jack stand such that it can be pinned at various
heights. Hope this helps.
