Here's another question on the tailwheel replacement. For those of us who
have already installed the MAM solid tailwheel on the round steel spring or
spinner, does the Scott 3400 line up with the holes already drilled?

Tail wheel install
Tail wheel install
G'day from "Down Under" guys !
Sometimes you HAVE to just bite the bullet & REDO some of what you
have already done - to make it better !
I took one look at the SOLID / IMMOVEABLE tailwheel "spring" that was
supplied with our kit & said NO WAY .... and this has been pretty well
been verified by the tailcone problems & fixes that have been done to
remedy the problems occurring.
I went to the local trailer manufacturer & bought three, short, half
elliptical springs & layered them to replace the solid "spring" that we
got given.
I got an old / worn out Scott 3400 from the local L.A.M.E. (our version
of your "A & P" ) ... and rebuilt it - and it has worked GREAT !
So don't be afraid to undo a bit of your work to fit a different spring
& tailwheel ..... all these builders wouldn't be talking about fitting a
better system if there weren't a problem !
