A question to the Elite builders out there...
I am in the process of laying out and (finally) starting to build the stabilizer for my Elite. I plan to build the elevator with the shortened span as most seem to indicate improved flight handling this way.
Question: It appears that I can build the stabilizer as per original plan, installing all leading edge ribs etc., as shown, then simply shorten the front spar and fiberglass tips to accommodate the shorter elevator span. Am I correct that I don't need to make any other changes to the stabilizer?
In advance, Thanks!

Elite Elevator Modification
Hi, Norm,
I did mine a few months ago, and it was a fairly simple task, aided by some
very helpful directions that originated with Sean White. You are correct
about the stab alterations.

I would suggest installing a doubler under the existing skins to give the
spades more stiffness laterally. I did not do this the first time round and
caught a tip on the door when removing it from the basement. The result was
a bent spade. I'm sure this would not have happened at the original width,
as it was not a hard bump. Similar damage could reult if somebody simply
bumped into the spade. I put doublers (about 6" x 3") top and bottom, and a
plate bridging the front and rear ribs on the outside of the tip. I believe
there's a pic in the archives. (Elite mods or Elite tail?)
