Fuselage

Post by Mike Betti » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:35 am

Working on the fuselage now I find the instructions a little more to be
desired than previous assemblies. I'm installing the lower bulkheads on
the main floor skin in the cabin area 3-9. No.7 doesn't have any holes
prepunched in the skin to go by, that area only has 2 holes for the
Trike option. Do I have to put my own row of hole there? Also, where the
cut off ends of the bulkhead pieces go under the side sills, does one
have to tweek to fit them between the channel?
Thanks,
Mike Betti

Mike,

Have the left sill riveted in now, and working on the right sill. For both,
the rib stubs do need to be twisted (or tweaked as you put it) to get the
sill to drop into place. Mine have been on and off several times during the
repair and float fitting install process ... after a while a "process" fall
out that's repeatable and it falls into place pretty easy. The flange on
those stubs are not very wide. When the floor wraps go in, its a hard
target to hit ... we made some tabs that rivet to the stubs that provide a
real nice target for riveting the curved section of the floor wraps.

Hi Builders,
I am at the point in the manual where you fit and drill the inside tail
cone skin and inside corners. It says to debur and cleco back in place,
nothing about riveting. I already have some access holes for wiring and
some strings for wire pulling in place. Is there any reason I can't
rivet this skin in place?
Thanks,
Mike Betti
