Greetings,
When putting together the parts list for 612e's repair ... extended MAM tips
were added to the list. Although I haven't physically put a tape to them,
visually comparing them to the standard tips will add to the Elite wing span
considerably. Has anyone on the list modified a flying standard Elite with
the MAM extended wing tips? And if so, is there any data comparing the two
MAM tips? Over the past several months I've been nibbling away at the
fuselage ... second aft float fitting is in ... same-side floor wraps are at
the top of the queue.
Cheers, Bob 612e

Hello Gilles,
Has David Fife stopped making the wing tips?? I spoke to David late last
year; he said he was working on wing tips for the Elite. A recent email has
not been answered. If David has dropped out, then I am interested. I am also
currently talking to Angus McKenzie about supply a wing cuff STOL kit; I
will incorporate the leading edge wing cuff as I build my wings. Currently
half way through building the right wing.
Kind regards,
Greg Elite 724

Bob,
We were interested in these some time back and were told by Colleen
before she left that there was no actual test data to substantiate
improvements. I don't believe testing has been done since. Without
hard numbers it's a lot like when you change oil and the engine runs
better.

MAM Elite Wingtips
Hi Bob !
Since nobody has jumped in, I suspect no one has flown these on
an Elite yet .... They should give a definite improvement, because
of the extra span & wing area increase. The Murphy extended tips
have made a definite, measurable improvement on the Moose -
in the 2 to 5 mph range on stall AND cruise, so would be a worthwhile
addition. There really isn't any other option, as Dave Fife has not
completed his Hoerner tips for the Moose & Elite - he's been too busy
with important 'life' decisions to catch this significant opportunity. :-(

MAM Elite Wingtips
I do know that Jim Jeffreys, near Chilliwack, has the new MAM tips on his Elite, and he initially flew his with the standard wing tips. I understand that he likes them and found a noticable improvement over the old ones. He's been to Arlington with it, and his was one of the planes shown in the May Kitplanes edition. I do have his phone number offline if anyone wants to talk to him.
