trim switch position

I'm strongly with Wayne on this one! Spring for one of the Ray Allen
stick grips with PTT on the front and a coolie hat switch on top.
Forward for nose down (same as the stick), back for up, and you never
have to let go of the stick.

I fully agree Ralph..if the switch is on the stick. BUT if on the panel,
then nose up is top of switch just like gear up..flaps up and probably why
MAC pre -prints the decal with Nose up at the top and Nose down at the
bottom.

Again though, what ever you are comfortable with....but don't lend your
plane if it's not normal.

Exactly why fwd on panel mounted rocker should be nose down and back on a
rocker nose up.
I could only fly Wayne's plane inverted or in the southern hemisphere

Mount the switch on a flat surface if it will help you sort the switch
action out. The thought process is that the switch and the airplane should
be rotating on the same axis. If the switch is mounted vertically, then
pushing on the top causes rotation forward and down, and the airplane goes
the same way. When you push on the bottom of the switch, the rotation is
forward and up, again the airplane goes the same way. Just picture the
switch and the airplane on the same pitch axis (parallel to the wing).

My MAC switch came with two decals. One with "up" on the top and one with
"down" on the top. Apparently, they couldn't decide either. My PC based
IFR procedural trainer has a rocker and the top is nose down. I also get
the aid of a graphic display of a trim wheel moving to help me but nose down
on the top feels natural to me. I get the sense that I'm pushing down on
the virtual trim wheel when I press the bottom of the rocker and vice versa
on the top. I'm literally visualizing the trim wheen when I press the
rocker. By the way, I plan to have a hat switch on the pilot's stick and a
rocker on the panel for the co-pilot side in case I am instructing or have a
passenger that wants a hand at the stick.
