nylon washers

Post by Jesse Jenks » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:24 am

Where do you get the nylon washers called for in the elevator/rudder hinge?
I didn't get any with my kit. Are they an AN part, or hardware store?
Thanks.

Jesse, did I not throw a dozen in of my thrust washers?? MAM used to have
nothing there, then bought about 2000 from me and then switched to something
inferior in my mind. Give me your mailing address again and I send you some.

Wayne G. O'Shea

nylon washers

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:24 am

Jesse bought a whole airplane kit from me and why I said I'd send him some
N/C......

As previously posted......anyone that wants them just send me $5 >CASH< and
your address and I will send you a dozen. US folks US dollars and Canadian
folks CDN dollars, as this will cover the higher postage rate to the USA.

These are only for the Rebel though TTBOMKnowledge, so Keith I'm not sure if
you need them. The washers themselves are about 2" OD with a 3/8 ID hole
that fits the hinge bushing perfectly. They are about 0.032/0.040 thick and
made of nylon 6. You will never wear them out....OEM usage was the thrust
washer for TRW seatbelts, to keep the recoil spring from wearing thru the
Polypro case.

On the Rebel they are used between the hinge brackets and the
elevator/rudder spar tubes end plugs and the rivets holding the push pull
horns on. The rudder is absolutely critical as without the washer in place
the rivets will chew their way through the lower hinge bracket thanks to
gravity.

nylon washers

Do they sit on top of the rivets in the horn end plug, or do you cut down
the outside diameter on that one so they go inside the rivets?

The main idea is to keep those rivets from wearing through your hinge
bracket...so YES they get left full size to cover the rivets.

Thanks,
