I apologize but an error was made in the email I sent you regarding
gross weight increase.
It should have read,

written evidence confirming design agreement with as high a gross weight

as you feel comfortable with for this airplane on floats. I trust you
will be able to at least endorse the 5% increase for floats to 1890 lbs,

but anything more would be greatly appreciated. When you apply the
formulae in the CARS, in comes out to almost 2200 lbs, as I recollect.
That would be beautiful!

Also, something in writing confiming design agreement with the reduced
span spades on the elevator would be good to have on hand for my final
inspection. I did put in some doublers under the skins and on the tip
ribs to stiffen up the narrower spades, as this seemed prudent. There
are a couple of pictures on the wildcat BBS (www.dcsol.com).

Yes, the original letter made sense in the context of my enquiry, but it's
better to be precise about these things.

Next thing, somebody'll ask how small can the floats be and still count as
floats? The answer would be "big enough to allow the airplane to take off
and land on water".

Bummer I already calculated my new gross and was wondering how many hoops
TC would make me jump through.

Letter for 5% on the Rebel had been out for many many moons Drew (1730lb
when on floats...if actually a 1650lb version of the wheeled airplane)! You
can however pick any weight you are comfortable with and see if Juniper at
TC will go for it. TC on the West coast seems very open to upgross...whether
it be safe or not. I am not endorsing doing anything above the 1730 MAM
weight, just know it has been done many times to make the airplane "ramp"
legal .....for how many have been flying the Rebel for years.

I'm already at 1730 on floats. I was just hoping for more. ;) Of course
then I'd really need an 0-360 just to get off the water.
