912 service bulletins

Post by Aurele Lavigne » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:05 am

Just looker over a few recent bulletins and had a couple of questions
for any owners of 912's.

1-change of collant to NPG waterless type-anyone have any idea on
suppliers in Ontario

2- standerdization of an aibox for the 912 requiring a change in jets-
anyone done this installation (any comments)- also would appreciate any
pics of your installation and sourcing for parts ei: fresh air intake
and carb heat muff, etc.

Thanks,

Aurele R063

P.S. custom made an airbox since Rotech's is for standard installation
and not adapted to Rebel's engine installation requiring reversal of
intakes to clear mount

912 service bulletins

Aurele...if your water temperature/CHT is okay do not go to the expense and
bother of this new "latest greatest" Evans waterless coolant idea from
Rotax. If you're not running over 230F on CHT just continue with what you
have or use GM's dextrol long life and carry on. At least you can get the
stuff any afternnoon across the tracks at CTC!

Two years from now they will probably SB this new coolant as being no good.
Just like they did after they got everyone, including all their
distributors, to switch over to MOTUL oil.

Thanks Wayne, since I opened up the bottom of my cowl 2 yrs ago, at your
suggestion, I've had no problems with temps accross the board. I know my
CHT temps are barely getting to that mark on warmest days and then only
if I were really pushing it. As for water temp, I beleive I was running
in the 80 + C range.

Thanks again,
Aurele

P.S. Great pics you posted the other day on your trip to Temagami, too
bad we could'nt make out the cottage too well.

As Daryl will contest to, after seeing the place for the first time on
Sunday, it's not worth the pixels or film to take a picture of.....it's the
view down the lake and the atmosphere that we bought! LOL

Get that thing running again and come on down in the summer Aurele. You can
buy Shell premium at the town dock via the gas can shuffle.

Hey, as long as the roof doesn't leak, you have a good wood stove, a BBQ and
cold beer on warm days, who's going to complain. LOL

Guess I'll have to pull out the maps and do a little flight planning. Sure
would be a nice trip. Will see how time is this summer and be in touch.

Talk to you soon, Aurele
