Wrote in asking if anyone would change anything from what they
originally built or update anything from what they built no replies so I
guess everyone built the perfect airplane the first time. Although
there were 64 replies to the fuel management and Mogas Avgas subject
16 replies to setting up shop and 13 so far the sport pilot subject. So
I guess we build perfect airplanes the first time, and don't really
know which fuels we should actually be running or if we should run out
of fuel in one tank or shut the valve first, this is after we really
don't have the perfect shop and the sport pilot license really doesn't
affect the Canadians. All I was looking for were suggestion or advice
before I completed my plane so I guess I'm on my own as before. If I
seem sarcastic really I'm not it is just that if you look over the mail
some things really get responses and other fall by the way side. So I
guess I'll just read the replies instead of asking questions from now on

I don't recall Dale which kit you are building, but at least for the Rebel,
there are hundreds of messages discussing modifications in the archives.
Many of these will also apply to the Elite. The SR & Moose don't have
nearly as long a list, but it is getting longer all the time. As for not
getting any response to your initial question, this will happen some times,
especially when there is already a heated discussion going on, and lots of
messages going out every day. When things slow down new topics are more
likely to get a response. You'll also find that during certain times of the
year, you hardly hear from anybody because they're all busy with something
else.

If you've decided that you're done asking questions that's fine, but you
might have found that simply asking the question a second time would have
prompted someone to answer who didn't the first time simply because they
figured someone else would. Personally, your message below is the kind of
reaction I would expect from my 15 year old son... but you have the right to
express your displeasure.

I don't have any mods to share with you at this point, as I'm still working
on the tail feathers of my Moose... and the only mod I've made so far was
putting a doubler in the h-stab, and MAM has now issued a service bulletin
to do just that.

Not that I should need to apologize Dale...since I didn't sell you the
kit...but sorry if you feel left out. I have responded considerably to your
requests for information on elevator, motor mount and other issues and don't
recall seeing any thanks for straightening out which vintage of elevator
skin you have. I haven't completely finished a Moose so I'm not very quick
to offer advise on same. Once I have pounded the hell out of one for 5 years
or so and can tell you all the things I would modify when doing it all over
again I'll let you know! I can do this on the Rebel....... with over 11
years hands on building and numerous "field " repair experiences. They are
called field repairs as that is usually where they get retrieved from to
start repairing! :o)

HI Wayne, I did e-mail you and thank you for the suggested WHITE industries
I checked it out they did not have them and I checked out the elevator
e-mailed you about that also and asked you if just cutting to the already
drilled holes by MAM was sufficient clearance and didn't get a reply
although I new you would send me information if you had it, I will apologize
for my computer if you didn't receive them because I sent them . Thanks
again Wayne and Al has been a great help to me.

Yes trim flush to remove the existing holes for the inboard ribs of the V of
the elevator and move the ribs out accordingly when installing the mods to
Moose. Got the email about White..nothing else.

For the guy asking about mods, I think my last count was 26 strenghtened or
reinforced modifications to the Rebel and my Rebel kit was # 637. Thinking
floats all the way thru construction!!! I believe the majority are on the
archives

I didn't think there was 26 mods to the Rebel. Maybe a dozen. My memory must
be fading. There could have been a dozen MAM service bullies all listed on
the web site and a dozen more field...Ontario mods as they are called because
they came out of that part of the country. Like Steve said, all available in
the archives (thanks Mike!) if you take the time to read through them. I
would...and I did.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the reply, I will apologize if I was out of line last
evening writing on the board, all I ways looking for was little upgrades
the guys may have come up with or would now that their planes are done that
would make them a little nicer than what they have now. Or things a person
could do different when assembling the aircraft that would make it easier
than the manual shows since the manual in some areas has a lot to be desired
as I see it (maybe it's just me though). I am building or trying to put
together a MOOSE which the tailsection had to be upgraded from the SR-2500
original aircraft . I got to talk with one gentleman who suggested
independent brake cylinders for each side(right and left pilot) to do away
with the linkage checked it out and to my application I am changing mine
that way. I guess little suggestions like this is what I was looking to
find when asked for things some guys might change on their aircraft if doing
it over again. Thanks Guys to everyone who has wrote in and helped me I
really am appreciative it's just that I have been taught if I have something
to ask, ask it , If a person has something to say, say it .

Dale, I do recall the message, but you weren't clear on which
plane you were building. You mentioned something about aileron
mods, so I assumed it was the Moose. But as has just been said,
there aren't too many completed and flying yet, as compared to
the Rebel, so we don't have the same archive built up yet of mods
and fixes.

I would like to mention too, that there are some on this group
that give a lot more than they get, and in particular, I am
referring to Wayne. For that, we all have to be very appreciative
and don't take it for granted. And we need to keep our
expectations in check. There is lots to be learned here, even
long after we are already flying as in my case. I should mention
Mike Davis, as well, since he's the one that makes this whole
list even possible for us.

So Dale, if we can approach this group with that understanding, I
think we will be more than happy with what we get it out of it.
And don't forget to give, too, when you can. Best of luck on your
build.

Hi Bruce
I did a few extra mods myself with floats in mind. The lower sides and lower
corners from my firewall to the rear float pickups are .032/.040 but most
have been discussed on the archives. I used .032 on all lower corner wraps
and made new .032 rounded side wraps. When it came for the reinforcement
of the fus 9 at the top of the cage, I made up new pieces of .063 that
extended back onto the fus root rib to make a cleaner appearance. I think
someone else did this before me but I'm not sure it was on the list. I count
putting .032 sheet on the floor behind the seats a mod- anything different
than the plans. If anyone wants, I can list the things I have done if
interested. Doesn't take long to add up!

Maybe, over time, we can get a set of these notes for each model.
There IS a lot of information in the archives, but it would be nice to have it
consolidated periodically into one email. Hmmmmm ..... maybe this
would merit a separate section in the archives for "Tip Summaries" ??

Hi Dale,
Some modifications that I have are, .063 skins on the forward outside door
posts, on the brakes I just disconnected the co-pilot linkage, the flap
linkage is driven by a Teleflex cable inside the cabin, seafins, ventral
fin, VG's, Elite nose wheel for tail wheel, extended the instrument panel
down by adding a 3" channel, landing and taxi lights in both wings, cargo
tie down tracks in the baggage compartment, large aileron spades. When you
get to the engine and electrical ask again.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the reply, I will apologize if I was out of line

evening writing on the board, all I ways looking for was little upgrades
the guys may have come up with or would now that their planes are done
that
would make them a little nicer than what they have now. Or things a person
could do different when assembling the aircraft that would make it easier
than the manual shows since the manual in some areas has a lot to be
desired
as I see it (maybe it's just me though). I am building or trying to put
together a MOOSE which the tailsection had to be upgraded from the
SR-2500
original aircraft . I got to talk with one gentleman who suggested
independent brake cylinders for each side(right and left pilot) to do away
with the linkage checked it out and to my application I am changing mine
that way. I guess little suggestions like this is what I was looking to
find when asked for things some guys might change on their aircraft if
doing

really am appreciative it's just that I have been taught if I have

Hi Dale, yes it can be frustrating when a one question seems ignored and
another that has been hashed over a zillion times goes on and on.

Where you referring to wing mods or everything in general?

of fuel in one tank or shut the valve first, this is after we really
don't have the perfect shop and the sport pilot license really doesn't
affect the Canadians. All I was looking for were suggestion or advice
before I completed my plane so I guess I'm on my own as before. If I
seem sarcastic really I'm not it is just that if you look over the mail
some things really get responses and other fall by the way side. So I
guess I'll just read the replies instead of asking questions from now
on

Maybe, over time, we can get a set of these notes for each model.
There IS a lot of information in the archives, but it would be nice to have
it
consolidated periodically into one email. Hmmmmm ..... maybe this
would merit a separate section in the archives for "Tip Summaries" ??

I didn't think there was 26 mods to the Rebel. Maybe a dozen. My
memory
must
be fading. There could have been a dozen MAM service bullies all
listed
on the web site and a dozen more field...Ontario mods as they are
called
because
they came out of that part of the country. Like Steve said, all
available
in
the archives (thanks Mike!) if you take the time to read through them.
I
would...and I did.

Steve,

Ditto what Bobp said on the Rebel Mod list for quick reference for future
builders. Having all that information in on spot would be a real asset. I have
trouble remembering them all just a few years later.
