Jeffrey made a post the other day about his IRS # being on the package he
received from MAM.

Sorry guys but this is a fact of life for anything going by truck or
courier
from Canada to the USA (only method avoiding this so far is the Post
Office). Don't flame us for it as we can't put anything on a truck without
this # filled out on the customs papers/NAFTA form and commercial invoice
thanks to your friggin Homeland Security department that wants to share
your
information with anyone working the border, driving the truck, brokering
your shipment etc....and if you as a whole were smart you'd start
lobbying
your government to stop this blatent gift to scammers and identity
theives.
Just think...they have your whole address, phone number generally for
contact on large shipments and now your Social Security # to boot!

If you can find a business that's willing to let you use their tax #
instead
of putting your SS# on the package and ship C/O the business I'd do so.

Cheers,
Wayne

Any freight/courier shipping from Canada to the USA has a spot on the
paperwork for an IRS # for the US recipient. This "box" has been there for a
looonnngggg time, but in the last year or so absolutely has to be filled in
or the load gets held up at the border (truck company won't even pick the
stuff up off our plant dock if it's not there!). You either have to enter a
business tax number or a private individuals SS#...which is available to
anybody that gets to touch the paperwork!

Dear David,

Apologies for this non-aviation news, but the man nominated to head Homeland
Security, the former New York police commisioner, had to withdraw after it
came out that he had an illegal nanny, two simultaneous affairs, improper
stock dealings, and close associations with the mob. All very American, of
course!

Jeffery, Jesse

Hee hee! Well that story made my day! A real chuckle. How did this guy think
he could get away with all that including not one but TWO simultanious
affairs??!?

For what it's worth I'm sure we aren't perfect up here North of the border
either!

Cheers,

Dave
