Jerry..try Bernie Desantis. He rolled his Rebel amphib up in a ball last
summer and I'm not sure if the prop took a hit or not. Either
desan@vianet.ca or desan@vianet.on.ca should work.

Cheers,
Wayne

Could someone enlighten me with regards to propellors: 2 blade vs. 3,
thinking there is better ground clearance with 3 blades but beyond that?????

G'day Jerry ...

WHAT engine are you planning to put this Warp Drive prop' on ?!?

(whilst they ARE a good propeller in many ways .... they are NOT
suitable for "direct drive engines" ..... the shock pulse of the firing
delaminates the root of the blades eventually)

Yep...so they say Rick...but I've been running a 3 blade x 70" on the nose
of mine for 9 years and it's still mint!! (knock on wood!). 5 years on the
O-235-C x 100 Hp and 4 now on the O-320 x 150 HP. Going to keep running it
as long as I can.... as I'd have to do some real teeter totter work on mine
if I have to put a 40 lb prop up there! (starting with taking the Gill-25
off the firewall !!)

Cheers,
Wayne

WOW .... that's impressive !
(I s'pose it must be mainly due to the low compression of those models
of engine .. yes ?)

Our 0-235 was the 9.7:1 ... HIGH compression model ... PLUS we fitted
the LSE electronic ignition (bigger BANG again !) .... our Warp drive
lasted less than 11 hours ! :o(

Wayne G. O'Shea

wanted warp drive prop

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:31 am

I think a big part of mine surviving is the fact I'm on grass and never idle
below about 1200 RPM. The other thing is mine is 70"..not 72" for a
different harmonic note and less total arm twisting on that alum collar
area. Possible that maybe he had higher quality control or thicker alum
collar area on the earlier stuff as well...who know!

My O-235 was a nice 6.5 to 1, I believe, and the 150Hp O-320 isn't much
higher..think 7 to 1 but don't have my book in the house.

Yep...so they say Rick...but I've been running a 3 blade x 70" on the
nose
of mine for 9 years and it's still mint!! (knock on wood!). 5 years on
the
O-235-C x 100 Hp and 4 now on the O-320 x 150 HP. Going to keep
running it
as long as I can.... as I'd have to do some real teeter totter work on
mine
if I have to put a 40 lb prop up there! (starting with taking the
Gill-25
off the firewall !!)

Cheers,

WHAT engine are you planning to put this Warp Drive prop' on ?!?

(whilst they ARE a good propeller in many ways .... they are NOT
suitable for "direct drive engines" ..... the shock pulse of the
firing

I think a big part of mine surviving is the fact I'm on grass and
never idle
below about 1200 RPM. The other thing is mine is 70"..not 72" for a
different harmonic note and less total arm twisting on that alum
collar
area. Possible that maybe he had higher quality control or thicker
alum
collar area on the earlier stuff as well...who know!

My O-235 was a nice 6.5 to 1, I believe, and the 150Hp O-320 isn't
much
higher..think 7 to 1 but don't have my book in the house.

WOW .... that's impressive !
(I s'pose it must be mainly due to the low compression of those
models
of engine .. yes ?)

Our 0-235 was the 9.7:1 ... HIGH compression model ... PLUS we
fitted
the LSE electronic ignition (bigger BANG again !) .... our Warp
drive
lasted less than 11 hours ! :o(

Hi Wayne mine is a 4 blade on an 0-360 for well over 400 hrs and on floats
and it seems that if you don't idle down below 1000 rpm the prop is just
fine.

wanted warp drive prop

Post by Rick Harper » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:31 am

G'day Jerry

I don't "have" a Warp Drive any more ..... I just wanted you to be
aware that they do not seem to work well on HIGH COMPRESSION direct
drive engines !

If your engine is LOW compression , they seem to last quite well !

Hope this helps
