I looked at your fuel line routing from the tank. What have you got
there? It looks like the fuel has to syphon uphill after it exits the
tank.. Do you have a pump in the tank?
I have just finished remodelling my outlet, and will give the gang a
description on Sun if the meeting is still a go. I won't have my plane
there, not ready yet, and lost a couple of more workdays this week
Seems hard to get enough time to do everything now that I have been
retired for a while.
My basic setup is: out of the tank in hose, elbow to a special Y
fitting, which has a big cavity in it, and the top outlet connected to a
return to the top of the tank. Then the shutoff valve. This allows any
air in the line to return to the tank while letting the fuel flow
uninterrupted. The cavity is to ensure that there is air/fuel
separation and no syphon effect as was likely seen in the original MAM
setup that gave problems in the first case. The shutoff valve in this
location keeps the feature that I like of almost no fuel in the cabin .
The vent return looks like a level site gauge, but I have a solid line
here. I didn't like the clear plastic hose in the cabin. Just my idea.

Think Bob's away Phil..but I'll answer about his fuel lines! This airplane
was built by Rob Percival (the first time) and he took the easy way out of
running the lines fwd and down the carrythru posts. He had a Subaru and ran
a pump of course. When I rebuilt this airplane, installed a fresh O-320 etc
and traded it to Bob for FOKM I added ram air and sealed the caps so his
tanks are pressurized to help the fuel "over the hump".
To be secure with this fuel line setup feeding a fresh O-320-E2D... I put 5
gallons in each tank and performed full power 2000FPM climbs... and
sustained high power slow flight (35MPH and 2400RPM) at a deck angle that I
would suspect most of you would be VERY uncomfortable with! Never skipped a
beat! Of course you must be cautious of heavy bank uncoordinated turns when
very low on fuel (like you should with ANY fuel system running on fumes) and
Bob is well aware of this.
