FSDO inspectors

Mike, that would be ideal. Another one of your benefits from living in an
area of relatively small population with very large aviation interests.

You couldn't get our FSDO guys out of the office with a red hot poker.

I think your questions have already been covered in detail, but thought I'd
add that the inspectors in our local FSDO indicated that they would be
interested in coming out periodically during the building process to look
things over. Working with your inspector like this over time should make
final inspection time a breeze, but it's not a requirement.

FSDO inspectors

I guess we've got it good regarding aviation in Alaska in more ways then
one. When I registered my MX a couple of years ago I was apparently the
first experimental in a number of years... long enough that no one working
in the airworthiness division had ever done one before. After digging
through mountains of documentation to ensure I had everything... even found
a power point presentation to teach the inspectors what to look for... it
went very smoothly. The FSDO then took my package, along with everything
they had gotten together in the process and held a class open to the public
about how to register an experimental aircraft.

Heck, they even offered me a job before it was all done!

Same in this area. FAA told me flat out we don't do with inspections any
more, here's a list of DAR's call one.
