OK, another thing I've been wondering about, with apologies to the true
Lycoming fans, is cowl looks on Subaru powered Rebels. I've only seen
pictures of a few, and IMO, the cowl and front end looks a little chunky. I
really like the looks of the Murphy speed cowl (for Lyc). Although a Sub
2.5
starts with 165hp :), anyone know if it could be stuffed into anything
approaching the size of the speed cowl?
...admitting that looks and vanity could determine my engine choice!!

The 2.2 soob fits very well under a 912 cowling. Don't now the size
differance between a 2.5 and 2.2, if any. If you want a picture of a 912 with a 2.2
under it I could send you some.

The cowl I put on my 2.2 Soob Rebel used a scheme similar to the one Rick & Wendy did with their Lyc powered Rebel in Oz. We used the T18 nose bowl from ACS. In my case I ordered the metal cowl kit from Murphy without the nosebowl. I found putting the nosebowl in place and working the templates out with heavy brown construction paper worked well.

Tell you what...I thought I would never consider it, but it will probably be without insurance!
