Throttle cable hook up

Post by Scott Aldrich » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:23 am

When hooking up the throttle or other controls, I thought I read somewhere
that I should leave a "cushion" at each end of the throw. i.e. the throttle
arm on the carburetor hits the stop before my throttle hits the stop on the
instrument panel or hits the idle stop on carb. before reaching max aft
limit on throttle?

Does this sound right?

Thanks,
Scott

Throttle cable hook up

Scott,

That is the common practice (and it is not much of a cushion - 1/4 inch is fine) in order to ensure that the carb end has full travel (lowest idle and full power) without any doubt on your part. You want to make sure that when you push forward on that throttle that you have truly "given it all she's got" at the carb end.
