Hi,

I'm a new member of this site and am very interested in your comments of
problems with a Murphy quick-build kit. I am currently in the final
decision making process of ordering an Elite Quick-Build kit and would
like all of the help I can get before I put the money on the table. The
local Murphy owners seem pleased with the support they received from
MAM, but then again, they are finished with their kits and have been
flying for some time. Have the Quick-Build kits become a problem due to
being assembled elsewhere? Where is the problem area? Which part of
the Q-B advertizing is potentially misleading? I only want to build
this once not correct errors.

This reply pertains to your last sentence. Let me tell you exactly how
Darryl Murphy personally responded to our quick-build kit's quality
problems.

Darryl's response was that MAM would not completely back the quality of
quick build kits. Even, if the problem was contrary to what they
advertised! Even when MAM knew there some overseas manufacturing
problems with early kits. Too bad! Darryl simple response was that
building MAM aircraft is an educational learning experience.

One Lesson learned is that quick-build sometimes means rebuild. Not
always time saved.

I look forward to Sun N' Fun. Face to face, I will again discuss my
kit's quality with the MAM reps.



I got a form letter in the mail from MAM saying they had new tips
for the Elite. Given the quality of the tips that came with the
original kit, I don't think I'd be inclined to buy from them,
especially when there are excellent tips already available from Dave
Fife. I think MAM is trying to expand the market for their Moose tips.

I find it interesting that Colleen has the time to sell wingtips,
when I have been waiting for an answer to a technical question for
almost three weeks, with no response from Brian or from Colleen, to
whom the question was referred.

As to the "Elaine" question, if it is true that Darryl said she had
been fired, that was certainly an inappropriate response to Paul's
problem. A good boss never badmouths an employee to a customer. A good
boss recognizes that HE is ultimately responsible for what goes on at
his company. It makes me wonder how forthright Darryl would be if a
problem were discovered with one of his planes.
