New Moose Tips
New Moose Tips
I just checked my mail and received a flyer on the new moose tips. I am
not sure if I should be pleased, disappointed or impressed. Certainly
Murphy is impressed based on the price. My rough calculations suggest they
added ~10" to each wing tip with this addition. I was a bit surprised to
see the quoted stall speed went from 58kts to 53kts when their web site
suggests the stall speed is .... But then again we all know that most
manufacturer's provide "ideal" specs. Does anyone else know a bit more
about these like what changes are required? They weren't exactly clear on
what is involved.... except they won't give you credit for your old ones!
Maybe someone can post some pictures that show more detail?

New Moose Tips
Don't know anything else about them... but sure makes me glad that I deleted
my wing tips when I originally ordered my kit. Whether Dave Fife comes out
with tips for the Moose, or I end up with Murphy's new one... at least I
won't have the original ones collecting dust in the shop.
For anyone out there who hasn't order their kit yet, or a part of their
kit... Murphy was very good about allowing me to delete items from the kit
at order time and crediting me for it.

New Moose Tips
Hi James !
Last I heard, Dave had started work on tips for a Moose -
but the builders have gone on an extended vacation tour of Mexico,
so he can't get at it for another month or so ...
I think he's also working on tips for an Elite.
His tips certainly made a difference on my Rebel -
reduced takeoff distance by over 20 %, lowered stall speed,
slightly increased cruise, and improved low-speed handling.
Angus McKenzie's STOL kit also greatly reduced stall speed,
increased climb rate, and helped low speed handling - and it is
available for the Moose NOW ! (Several already flying ..)
You can reach Angus at: "Angus McKenzie" <angus@lweb.net>
You can reach Dave Fife at:
aircrafttips@yahoo.com,
or: Home: (248)627-4367
How's the Moose coming ??? Sounds like you are really
making progress !

New Moose Tips
Good afternoon,
Thanks to everyone for their response to my question.
Dave I will be giving you a call later on this summer to discuss your wing
tips.
Bob, SR164 is coming together slowly, verrry slowly.
I have the motor hung on but do not have any systems run yet. I do not have
any electrical work done yet either. Unfortunately I just completed my wing
tips with the landing lights installed in them. Then I got the letter in
the mail from Murphy about the "new and improved" wing tips. It will be a
costly change but I think I will switch to the new style either by Dave or
Murphy later this summer. If anyone is considering using Murphy's standard
wing tips and do not have landing lights installed yet, I would be
interested in making a deal on the lights.
Tail feathers, wings and fuselage is complete. All doors are together. I
received the Murphy engine cowling a couple of weeks ago. Lots more work
now.
I look forward to meeting you at Sun n Fun as I plan to fly there this year
(but not with the Moose)!
That's all for now.

New Moose Tips
Hi James,
I guess I'll answer a little for Dave Fife. It's either build the Rebel
tips for those whom have sent deposits or work on the plug for the Moose molds.
Agains my better judgement I will say he has begun the layup of the first
plug. Then he has to pull the plug, make a mirror image and then make that plug
THEN make the molds.
When you're as anal as he is and working a job as well it all takes time.
He is getting there.
He'll probably bust my a@#$%^& for telling all but oh well I'll live. Curt

Hi James !

*-------------------------------------------------------------------------*Good afternoon,
Thanks to everyone for their response to my question.
James

forHi James !
