Thanks in advance.

Full lotus floats
Full lotus floats
Hi Allen !
The comment I heard from one very experienced Rebel pilot ...
"Like flying off sandpaper !"
If you have no choice, because of very rocky shores, etc.,
they <might> be a possibility, otherwise, the lack of a step and
lots of drag in flight, plus wiggly-ness for walking, and extra
weight, sure make the Murphy metal floats a lot more attractive !! :-)
I know, they've added a metal step now - but that can be
easily damaged on rough shorelines, so eliminates any advantage of
soft rubber bottoms ....

Full lotus floats
Just about all the guys down east seem to be on Full Lotus. Not sure if this
means they're good, or just "Monkey see..Monkey do!" I have never flown on
them so can't give a constructive comment. I do have pictures here of a
guy's down east on 2150's that was trying to sell his machine to me. He may
have a more biased opinion to say they are great, to help with a sale, but
worth a phone call and he could maybe line you up with the others down east.

off of a lake in back of Trinity in Newfoundland. Look up the Christavia
web page organized by Ken Beanland in Calgary. He has flown the plane
several times. Try and contact him thru the web page. If u have trouble,

Full lotus floats
Hi,
I built a rans s-7 with a rotax 912, 80hp. i put it on full lotus
floats after one year and flew it for about 50 hours before i sold it
to finish up a christavia mk-1 which is going on murphy 1800 amphibs.
It was a really quiet combo. the only concern i ever had about the
floats was a tendancy to porpoise when taking-off, or landing in big
waves. this was more pronounced if i was two-up. i think if i had
played with the position of the floats relative to the wings it could
have been cured.
the floats are not fast thru the air, but they are very easy to land,
takeoff, and dock/beach. i have taken-off of wet grass and landed on 3
inches of wet snow. they are cheap to buy, install, repair. as a low
time float pilot, i have to say that they keep you out of trouble while
you learn about the water.
i would buy another set in a minute if they develope a better amphib
system.
