float chine rivets 1800 amphibs

Hi Wayne,

Clint is inclined to install the lower/outboard chine rivets with the
heads up/ pulled shank down. he does not like the looks of the pulled
shank above the lower chine staring at him. any thoughts? thanks

andy

float chine rivets 1800 amphibs

If he's that picky then why not do the outside edges with solid rivets! I
really don't like the pulled head on the thin skin side and the mfg'd head
on the thick side. Generally when you pull them this way you will end up
with a wavy fit. Putting them in "upside down" lets the large mfg'd head
hold the thin skin against the thicker chine angle. Also putting them in
pulled shank down gives you all those protrusions to catch on sea weed,
lifts etc.

My 1/2 cent worth!
Wayne

Thanks Wayne,

Good reasons to go your way. We may try to borrow a rivet squeezer and
do them hard.
