As promised here are the dimensions for the "V" area cut out on the
elevator. After doing the 3500 upgrades with the thicker fin post spar caps
and stab spar doublers there is insufficient clearance between the "V" and
the fin tail post.
If you have the original supplied 2500 skins this cut out is just shy of 3
inches at the root and 14 1/8" at the open end. If you have a factory
enlarged one the dimensions will be in the neighbourhood of 3 3/4 at the
root and 14 7/8 at the open end. If yours is the smaller dimensions make
sure you trim the skin back to remove the existing pilot holes as supplied
to get this larger dimension. I even suggest to do so if building the SR2500
as can't see that there is enough clearance originally either (and the next
owner may want to upgrade to the 3500 after purchase!).
Cheers,
Wayne

MOOSE- Elevator "V" cutout dimensions
Thanks Wayne. I have 14 1/8 I guess. I guess they didn't fix it before kit
SR222. Does anyone know if you can return old style skins and get the new ones?
I am just starting my elevator so I havn't drilled anything on the skin yet.
Brad

If you have a dent free skin now Brad I would just trim it back past the
existing pilot holes (after marking the pattern for new ones using them as a
guide) and carry on. You stand a LARGE chance of getting a damage skin if
you try for a new one, as it's near impossible to shop something that flimsy
on it's own without it betting damaged!
Glad the topic came up about the extra rib, as catching this now has saved
you a LOT of grief later.
