This is a little off the Rebel subject, but with christmas near I thought one
of you guys could help me out. Anybody out there that knows anything about
flight simulator joysticks and rudder pedals for computer games? My 15 year
old has asperations of going to the Air Force academy and being an astronaut.
He wants a joy stick and rudder pedals to use with the computer with flight
simulator games. I am not very computer savy and would like any help on
recommending one that would be good.
Thanks,
Keith Leitch R661

Off Subject -Looking for computer joystick and rudder pedals
Hi Keith
Have a look at the Saitek X45 flight system
(http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x45.htm) which is a two part joystick and
throttle quadrant set. You use the joystick on one side of the keyboard &
throttle on the other. It has a good solid feel and seems well made. For rudder
pedals, CH Products (http://www.chproducts.com/retail/gp_pro_pedals.html) have a
couple of options that are supposed to be good. The Pro version is supposed to
mimic the motion & feel of the rudder pedals of a plane.
Price wise, I think these are likely on the high end but if they are well suited
to the niche than that probably makes them worth it.
Cheers,
Dave R.
